Privacy Policy
Plain-language summary: We collect only what we need to deliver the Service. We don't sell your data. We share it only with a small number of named service providers who help us run things.
Effective: May 25, 2026. Last updated: May 25, 2026.
1. Who we are
The Daily Weather Brief ("we," "us") is operated by Blake Sullivan (sole proprietor) at dailywxbrief.com. For privacy questions, email support@dailywxbrief.com.
2. What we collect
When you sign up, we collect:
- Email address — to deliver the briefs
- Name (optional) — for friendlier email greetings, if you provide one
- ZIP code — to preselect your state and (potentially in the future) deliver hyperlocal weather features
- State preferences — to filter which days' briefs you receive
- Billing cycle — monthly or annual
- Payment information — collected and stored entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVC, or full payment details. We only store the Stripe customer ID and subscription ID that link your account to your Stripe billing record.
- Referrer code (if you came via an affiliate link) — to attribute the referral
We do not collect your IP address, browser fingerprint, or precise location.
3. How we use it
We use your information solely to:
- Deliver the daily weather brief you signed up for
- Process your subscription and renewals (via Stripe)
- Track affiliate referrals so we can pay our affiliates
- Respond to support requests you send us
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Service providers we share data with
We use a small number of third-party services to run the Daily Weather Brief. Each receives only the minimum data they need:
- Stripe (payment processing) — receives your email, name (if provided), and payment details directly from you at checkout. Stripe's privacy policy.
- Resend (email delivery) — receives your email address and the content of each brief we send you. Resend's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (hosting, signup form, scheduled cron job) — stores your subscriber record (in Cloudflare KV, an encrypted key-value store). Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Anthropic (the LLM that drafts the daily brief) — receives the raw NOAA SPC outlook pages. Anthropic does not receive any subscriber data (no emails, names, ZIPs, or anything tying the brief to a person). Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Zippopotam.us (ZIP → state lookup) — when you type a ZIP code, your browser sends just the ZIP (no email, no name) to look up the state. We never send them anything ourselves.
We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We don't share it with advertisers.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We don't use traditional cookies or tracking pixels. The only browser storage we use is sessionStorage — a temporary in-tab cache that holds your affiliate referrer code so it survives between page loads in the same session. It's cleared automatically when you close the tab.
6. Email tracking
Our briefs do not contain tracking pixels. We do not track whether you opened a specific email or which links you clicked.
7. Data retention
We keep your subscriber record for as long as your subscription is active. When you cancel and your billing period ends, we delete your record from our subscriber database within a reasonable time.
Stripe retains payment and billing records on its own retention schedule, as required by law (typically 7 years for tax / accounting purposes). We don't control Stripe's retention.
8. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Access the information we hold on you — email support@dailywxbrief.com
- Correct your information — just re-submit the signup form with the updated values
- Delete your account and all stored data — use the one-click unsubscribe link in any email, or email us
- Export your data — email us and we'll send you a JSON of what we have
9. California residents (CCPA)
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of "sale" (which we don't do — we don't sell data to anyone). To exercise these rights, email support@dailywxbrief.com.
10. Children's privacy
The Daily Weather Brief is not directed to children under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we've collected information from a minor, we'll delete it.
11. Data security
We protect your data with industry-standard security measures: all traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / TLS), payment data is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI Level 1 compliant), and our subscriber storage is encrypted at rest by Cloudflare. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
